The reception area. The OR. The outpatients' clinic. The lab where blood samples are examined. The lab. Consultation room and surgery. The Faraday cage. Toilets, shower, bath. Hallways. The laundry. The linen-room. Central kitchen: industrial catering … hardly anywhere as much diversity as in a hospital. Beds and trolleys being wheeled back and forth. Busy internal traffic. A constant coming and going. Peace and quiet. Colours create a friendly atmosphere. Hygiene. Bacteria. Microbes. Flooring that is easy to clean. Antistatic.

In a hospital that has to run day and night and has to be operative non-stop, Bolidtop is a material that has an extremely long life span and is quick and easy to replace. From the areas for general use, such as the entrance, waiting room, corridors, consultation room, outpatients’ clinic and casualty up to and including specific applications such as the Faraday cage and ESD safety floors for in the operating theatre.

Floors in the X-ray department and in intensive care where computers have to continue doing their job and static electricity must be excluded. The surgery department where the floors have to be resistant to substances such as iodine and blood. Resilient synthetic materials for light wall constructions (metal stud) in shower and toilet areas whereby the transition from the synthetic floor to the Bolicoat wall finish is seamless. In addition there are rooms in which peace and quiet are very important: sound-insulating floor finishes. In public areas such as entrance halls, waiting rooms and corridors resistance to wear is an important factor. The shops and the restaurant have their own floors. For example for the pediatric ward there are Bolidtop ‘fun’floors in which any children’s hero can figure or in which an artist can realize his creation. For the rehabilitation areas Bolidt has seamless sportfloors in its range, also taking account of hygiene and maintenance. The technical areas, the (industrial) kitchens, the lab, the linen room, the laundry… strong, resistant to wear and easy to maintain floor finishes.

For every question, a specific floor solution.

Many different flooring systems apply to hospitals; from coatings with a thickness of 100 µ up to synthetic systems of 10 mm. Prices depend greatly on the size of the surface and the choice of system.

For a 1,000 m² prices range between € 15 per m² for a thin functional coating and € 90 per m² for an exceptionally high quality, state-of-the-art flooring system.

To give you a more specific insight into our price structure, we invite you for a consultation to determine the most appropriate system for your space.

Bolidt Antimicrobial Technology
Bolidt has developed antimicrobial technology for the health care sector, which uses a revolutionary bactericidal technique. The traditional techniques are antibacterial paint systems based on chemical methods using, for instance, silver salts to prevent the spread of bacteria. Bolidt has developed a patented technology that has a lasting and more comprehensive effect.

How does it work?
In short, by differences in charge. The surface of the Bolidt Antimicrobial Technology systems is positively charged. The walls of the bacterial cells are negatively charged, but this negative charge is partly neutralised by Ca2+ and Mg2+ ions on their surface. Their negatively charged cell walls pull the bacteria to the positively charged floor surface, which repels the neutralising ions and disrupts the negative cell membrane. Result: the bacterium dies. Large contact surfaces are thus protected against the growth and spread of bacteria. In addition, bacteria cannot develop resistance to this bactericidal technology, which is a concern when using chemical methods based on silver salts, for instance. And it does not involve any toxic substances, which are released from the coating during use and cleaning and end up in the environment. Due to this so-called ‘leaching’ property, such coatings also lose their effectiveness over time, which is not the case with Bolidt’s antimicrobial technology.
